Where is our Heart?


TravelMyHeart was founded by sister and brother, Alpa and Ankit Agarwal.

After working in product management and engineering in the tech industry, and with the growing inequalities of income around the world, we wanted our next adventure to combine our love for tech with social good. Data showed that one way of doing this was to help small businesses succeed.

We realized we must be courageous and make the necessary sacrifices. And so TravelMyHeart was born – to help small businesses around the world succeed by providing a powerful and affordable discovery platform to help them compete with big players.

As U.S. President Teddy Roosevelt said, “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly…”

We also wanted to combine this with our love for travel – travel that helps us find beauty amidst our diversity and kindness in our common humanity.

As we have come to know our small business customers around the world, their hearts have touched us. Most run locally owned and operated businesses and have themselves followed their hearts to create travel products and services that create moments of joy – moments of joy that we can all string together into a sparkling necklace of a life well-lived.

Alpa Agarwal

Co-Founder, CEO & Head of Product and Strategy

As co-founder, CEO and Head of Product and Strategy, Alpa oversees product management, product marketing, sales, business development, strategy, and other business functions.

Prior to TravelMyHeart, Alpa was director of product management at Intuit, where she led a team of product managers in delivering marketing technology solutions.

As director of product management & marketing at eBay, Alpa led the development and launch of the eBay Promotions Manager which increased sales and average order size for eBay merchants. The application is currently successfully deployed on eBay.

Prior to eBay, Alpa worked with the engineering team at Microsoft’s MSN.com to release new social & community features. Alpa also held marketing roles in Microsoft’s developer division working on multi-core computing and with startups in the Microsoft for Startups program. Prior to that, Alpa led a global team at Microsoft to identify strategic market trends. She regularly advised Microsoft’s senior leadership team, including Bill Gates, resulting in new acquisitions, technology investments and strategic corporate shifts. Alpa has an MBA from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a BA in Economics from the University of Mumbai. LinkedIn


Ankit Agarwal

Co-Founder, CTO and Head of Product & Engineering

Ankit Agarwal is co-founder and head of product and engineering at TravelMyHeart™. In his role, he oversees all product management and engineering functions.

Prior to TravelMyHeart™, Ankit was Vice President of Product at CloudWeaver Inc., formerly Lyatiss, which made SaaS software to manage and optimize cloud hosted applications and IaaS infrastructures. In this role, Ankit oversaw product management, user experience design, engineering and operations and built CloudWeaver’s engineering and operations teams worldwide. Additionally, Ankit led pre-sales, technical demonstrations, and acquired the first set of customers. Ankit also played a leading role in analyst briefings and partner development.

Prior to CloudWeaver™, Ankit was Associate Vice President of Engineering at OPNET Technologies, Inc., a Gartner Magic Quadrant leader in Application Performance Management and Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics. OPNET was acquired by Riverbed Technology in 2012. In this role, Ankit was responsible for OPNET’s automated solutions for Network Discovery, Security and Performance Auditing, and Documentation and Diagramming – Sentinel and NetMapper, now known as Riverbed SteelCentral™ NetAuditor. Ankit oversaw all aspects of product management, user experience design and engineering, and built the respective teams. Additionally, Ankit played a leading role in pre-sales and post-sales support, technical support, customer demonstrations, analyst briefings, and acquisitions.

Ankit has presented sessions on network management and cloud operations at various industry conferences. He holds several patents in the areas of computer networking and security, and cloud operations. He has a Masters in Computer Science degree from the University of Missouri. LinkedIn


Katie Canada

Visual Design Consultant

Katie Canada is a co-founder and Creative Director at Departika, a digital branding agency, where she has created award-winning designs for clients that scale from start-ups to regional companies and national consumer brands.

Originating in advertising, Katie has been involved in the culture and workings of both large and small agencies. Her experience in marketing strategy, brand identity, packaging, and interactive design has lead to successful work in various industries including consumer food and beverage, hospitality and entertainment and music promotions.

Katie is curious and passionate about marketing and design, as one might expect, but believes her enthusiasm for other things, such as the outdoors, music and laughing out loud, feeds the energy it takes to run a business and to lead a creative team. LinkedIn


Promit Bhattacharya

Promit Bhattacharya

Promit is a Managing Partner at Frame, an advisory practice focused on business strategy, organizational design and executive recruiting for founders and investors. Prior to Frame, Promit held CFO roles leading finance and operations most recently at West, a venture fund and design studio, as well as multi-billion dollar investment funds including SVB Capital, WestBridge Capital, and Hall Capital Partners.

In these roles, Promit established a strong track record of driving strategy, developing people, working globally, streamlining operations, and managing complex analysis and processes. Promit attended the University of Michigan, earning both a BA in Economics and a Master of Accounting, and is a CPA (currently inactive). Promit also serves on the Board of the Headlands Center For The Arts. LinkedIn


Chip Conley

Rebel hospitality entrepreneur and New York Times bestselling author, Chip Conley disrupted his favorite industry… twice. At age 26 he founded Joie de Vivre Hospitality (JdV), transforming an inner-city motel into the second largest boutique hotel brand in America. He sold JdV after running it as CEO for 24 years, and soon the young founders of Airbnb asked him to help transform their promising start-up into the world’s leading hospitality brand.

Chip served as Airbnb’s Head of Global Hospitality and Strategy for four years and today acts as the company’s Strategic Advisor for Hospitality and Leadership. His five books have made him a leading authority at the intersection of psychology and business. Chip was awarded “Most Innovative CEO” by the San Francisco Business Times, is the recipient of hospitality’s highest honor, the Pioneer Award, and holds a BA and MBA from Stanford University. Ayesha Damania

Ayesha is an attorney specializing in Corporate Employment Law, with over 25 years of experience. She has served as Assistant Government Pleader for 2 years. Her client base comprises multinational and Fortune 500 companies, large public sector corporations and top ranking solicitor firms based in Mumbai, India.

Ramana Nanda

Ramana Nanda is a Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurial Finance at Imperial College London, and the Sarofim-Rock Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, where he is on a leave of absence for the academic year 2019-2020. Ramana is a Research Associate in the Productivity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program at the NBER.

He received his Ph.D. from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and has a BA and MA in Economics from Trinity College, Cambridge, U.K. He is a recipient of the 2015 Kauffman Prize Medal, that is awarded annually to one scholar under age 40 whose research has made a significant contribution to the literature in entrepreneurship.

Prior to starting his Ph.D., Ramana was based in the London and New York offices of Oliver, Wyman & Company, where he worked primarily with clients in global capital markets as well as in small-business banking.  He continues to advise startup ventures on their financing strategies and also works with philanthropic investors who use market-based solutions to address poverty and promote entrepreneurship in developing countries. Amir Sarhangi

Amir Sarhangi is vice president of products at Ripple. Ripple provides one frictionless experience to send money globally using the power of blockchain. Prior to joining Ripple, Amir was director of product management and partnerships at Google responsible for messaging, after Google acquired Jibe Mobile, a company he founded and led.

As CEO and founder of Jibe Mobile, Amir was responsible for the company’s strategic and product direction, which placed Jibe Mobile at the forefront of the move towards an “all IP” mobile network. Prior to Jibe Mobile, Amir led the planning and strategy for consumer products and services for Vodafone Japan where he managed a budget of $170 million. Amir has deep roots in the telecommunications industry and has helped drive the development of industry standards, such as GSMA’s joyn.
